The leather type "Loke" is a buffed, embossed ox hide with a coated surface.

Hides used for this type of leather are sanded to uniform thickness and then embossed to achieve a uniform surface without visible scares or other marks. Finally, a top coating is added to give the leather a protective layer.

This type of leather has a pleasant surface with low breathability. The advantages of "Loke" leather are that is requires low-maintenance and resists most stains and fading from sunlight.

We recommend this type of leather for homeowners who want easy maintenance at the lowest possible cost as well as for restaurants, hotels, public spaces etc.

"Loke"-leather is available in many colors. We recommend you to contact your local dealer for experiencing the complete collection.

The leather type "Thor" is a semi-aniline ox hide with a natural grain and a coated surface.

More uniform hides are chosen for this type of leather. It has a largely uniform surface structure with some visible scars or other marks. After aniline dying, a pigmentation coat is added to give perfect color uniformity. Finally, a top coating is added to give the leather a protective layer.

This type of leather has a good touch and low breathability. The advantages of "Thor" leather are that it requires low-maintenance and resists most stains and fading from sunlight.

We recommend this type of leather for homeowners who want a good balance between maintenance and comfort.

"Thor"-leather is available in many colors. We recommend you to contact your local dealer for experiencing the complete collection.

Passionate craftsmanship means many things to different people. To Carl Hansen it means everything. It has been so ever since 1908 when Carl Hansen founded his company on a strong belief: outstanding craftsmanship and rational serial production could go hand-in-hand to provide customers with high-quality furniture at a reasonable price. Today they continue to build on this simple but strong idea, combining traditional woodworking techniques with the latest technology to produce furniture of lasting value.

"A chair is to have no backside. It should be beautiful from all sides and angles." – Hans J. Wegner

With his love of natural materials and his deep understanding of the need for furniture to be functional as well as beautiful, Hans J. Wegner made mid-century Danish design popular on an international scale. He began his career as a cabinetmaker in 1931 and subsequently entered the Copenhagen School of Arts & Crafts. After receiving his architectural degree in 1938, he worked as a designer in Arne Jacobsen and Erik Møller’s architectural office before establishing his own office in 1943.

Over the years, he designed over 500 chairs with many different wood types and styles. He became the undisputed master of Danish chair design. His style is based on clean, simple lines and to Wegner a chair was an artwork as much as a functional object. One of his well-known philosophies was that a chair should be beautiful from every angle and that it should not have a backside. Though Wegner designed for series production, all of his work bears the stamp of the traditionally trained craftsman. Wegner’s most famous chairs are the Wishbone, the Wing, the Elbow and the Shell. Most of his designs are produced by Carl Hansen and are still in production today.
