Created in Barcelona in 1987, Nanimarquina has, through constant development and creativity, created a brand whose essence is craftsmanship and quality. They create unique and surprising handcrafted rugs, using manual production techniques and contemporary designs to infuse each rug with the unique Nanimarquina spirit.
Working with local and international designers ensures a diversity of themes and experimentation with various textures, materials and shapes. The result: one-of-a-kind Nanimarquina rugs for each customer, a rug for each space and emotion.
Nanimarquina uses different traditional techniques and fibers: Afghan and New Zealand wool, wool felt, recycled polyester and rubber, silk, nettle, jute and mohair.
In 2015 the Mélange Rug Collection won Best of the Year at the preeminent design competition recognizing superior interior design products by INTERIOR DESIGN Magazine. It is the perfect combination of tradition and modernity, fashion and home, craft and design, past and future. The collection is composed of 20 models symbolizing a blending of marked contradictions that work together, acting as complements.
Thanks to the simplification of classic motifs such as geometric patterns and a pared down colour palette, the Mélange Collection is a contemporary version of the Kilim. An exercise in aesthetic rationalization that upholds the ancestral handcrafted techniques of Pakistan.
Recently Nanimarquina has been producing a series of natural area rugs, using materials such as 100% silk, hand-spun jute, hand-spun nettle, and 100% wool.
Made from 100% silk, the Natural Butterfly Rug is available in two sizes and 3 colour options.
The Natural Knitted Rug is made from 100% hand-spun jute and some of the highlights among its properties is that it is 100% biodegradable and recyclable, so it does not damage the environment, and it is one of the strongest vegetable fibers with insulating and anti-static properties
The Natural Nettle Rug is made with 100% natural nettle, grown mainly in Himalaya, China, India and Burma. Nettle’s fiber is greatly appreciated for its softness, resistance and its similarity to vegetable silk.
The Natural Vegetal Rug is made from 100% hand-spun jute and is available in two sizes and 5 earth-toned colours.
The Natural Tatami Rug is made from 50% New Zealand wool + 50% Jute. Jute’s structure and brightness mixed with the softness of the wool is a perfect combination. Take off your shoes and feel the Asian freshness under your feet. Available in two sizes and five colours.
The Rabari Rug Collection consists of four distinct carpets made from 100% New Zealand wool, handmade in India using the hand knotted and hand woven Sumak techniques. Each of the four rugs is like a canvas on which designer, Doshi Levien, has combined almost musical rhythms with a unique graphic sensuality.
You may ask yourself - Why do I need a rug?
Rugs define spaces, frame ambience and establish interfaces while giving a sensation of warmth that creates a welcoming work or home environment. Rugs convey emotions and affect mood. Architects and interior designers consider rugs an essential part of a room’s decoration.
And did you know that rooms with rugs contain up to eight times fewer airborne dust particles, hugely enhancing air quality?
