Details

This is an articulated system of table surfaces for the home or office. The design’s construction concept is based on small tables and shelf systems, with patterns and finishes which resemble lacquered Japanese trays. The table tops are made of solid, refined methacrylate and come in gloss black and white. They are available in three standard sizes and are fixed onto structures of differing heights, either floor-standing or on castors. The collection’s overall design hints at the idea of lightness and elegance without compromising stability and durability. The small tables are available in two rectangular versions of a depth of 40 cm and lengths of 80 and 140 cm respectively. There is also a square version measuring 80 x 80 cm. The table tops can be white or black and the support is in chromed steel. With the option of dismantling the metal supports, which have a special, angled coupling to lock them in place, the packaged product is perfectly flat, making transport and storage more practical. Another addition to the Trays system is the trolley version on castors with three superimposed shelves of 80 cm, or in bookcase version with shelves of 140 cm.

Piero Lissoni

Italy, 1956

Born in Italy, Piero Lissoni is a well-known designer and architect with a degree from the Polytechnico of Milan. In 1986 Lissoni founded the Studio Lissoni. Lissoni has worked with design brands such as Boffi, Cassina, Kartell, Living Divani and Flos on a wide diversity of designs of furniture and lighting. Lissoni’s projects are often full-scale interiors and architecture of hotels, offices and showrooms, yachts and private homes. He is inspired by many different elements but also designers such as Arne Jacobsen.

Piero Lissoni’s design principle is never to design for a specific function or purpose, but to design for human beings. His designs for Alessi include the very minimal Birillo Collection of objects. In 2004 Knoll introduced Lissoni’s Divina Lounge Collection, originally designed for his longtime client, Living Divina. It features clean lines and exceptional comfort and appears to float in mid-air, with razor-thin legs supporting the chrome-plated steel frame.
