Description
21.3 is a configuration of three 21 pendants hung from a round canopy. The pendants are designed to hang in a random configuration at times clustering and clumping together and others trailing off. The result is an ambient chandelier or field of light.
Inspired by the sporadic, perhaps discordant arrangement of barnacles on a rock surface, the 21 is fabricated from thin sheets of porcelain wrapped around frosted borosilicate glass trumpet-shaped diffusers. Each diffuser houses a low voltage (12V, 20W xenon) lamp. A strong contrast is established between the organically distributed soft light passing through the translucent white porcelain skin and the sharp, crisp light passing through the borosilicate glass diffuser.

Omer Arbel

Omer Arbel graduated from the University of Waterloo’s School of Architecture in 2000, and, after apprenticeships with several architectural companies, founded Omer Arbel Office, a Vancouver-based design practice, in 2005. The practice produces designs for buildings, objects, furniture, lighting and electrical accessories.
Arbel is also the creative director of the manufacturing and design company, Bocci that produces cast glass lighting features. Cast glass is an organic process, imperfect by nature and each piece is hand made to the client’s specifications. Bocci is now featured in buildings and homes worldwide and has won several high profile international design awards.
Brand
Vancouver-based Bocci is a world leader in contemporary lighting design. Founded by Creative Director Omer Arbel in 2005, the "14," where handmade cast glass globes hang from coaxial cables in random arrangements, was their first commercial design and an instant classic. Bocci’s lighting solutions include suspension, floor, wall, ceiling, and table lamps.
Bocci’s designs emerge through experimentation and a deep respect for the materials they work with. The team includes metalworkers, glassblowers, chemists, sculptors, designers, architects, and engineers collaborating to explore and extend lighting form, function, and possibility. This item qualifies for free door-to-door delivery within Canada, with a few exceptions:
- Orders $180 or less are charged a $35 small order fee at checkout.
- Additional charges apply for Remote Delivery Areas including the Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and other remote locations outside of major city centres.
- Small items will be delivered by FedEx or other courier service in your area.
- Large items will be delivered by freight service. This is standard curbside delivery; meaning the driver will not haul up an incline or up stairs, and it will be your responsibility to bring the item inside, complete any assembly, and remove packaging debris.
