Alessi MT02 La Stanza dello Scirocco
"La Stanza dello Scirocco" is a range of items born out of the abstract and motionless atmosphere of a magic place: the room in large Sicilian country homes where one is forced to seek shelter from the sultriness while waiting for the sirocco to die down. It is a room without windows in which you can do nothing but ponder the wind that is undoing all sublunary things outside. The upshot is a collection of geometrically irregular items made up of small splinters of various sizes, interlaced in an unstable balance. And so I came up with the idea that "La Stanza dello Scirocco" could be recounted through the story of drawings done by hand and through images of shadows, and that we could then ask everyone to exert themselves ever so slightly and make a small input with their own imaginations.

Mario Trimarchi
Italy
Mario Trimarchi, born in Sicily, has lived and worked in Milan since 1983. An architect of the “freehand” generation, he has always moved freely within the visual universe and considers drawing, photography, design and image as equal components with the same theoretical approach. Between 1994 and 1998 Trimarchi was Director of Advanced Design at the Domus Academy and from 1989 to 2000 was part of the Olivetti Design Studio, where he worked with Michele De Lucchi.
In 1999 he founded his own Corporate Identity Care studio, FRAGILE. With FRAGILE he designs systems of identity, coordinated image and visual alphabets through which diverse individualities can be expressed. He has designed many trademarks, most notably for Poste Italiane, the graphics for numerous large exhibitions, communications systems for Italian design companies and, finally, many displays and interiors.
Never relinquishing his passion for drawing, architecture or design, he is currently working on the theme of unstable geometries, which he utilises within the context of our relationships with everyday objects in an attempt to change, however slightly, our habitual patterns of living.
Alessi is known for producing many of the most iconic home accessories and homeware in the world. Founded in 1921, each product elevates the expression and function of household items, from tableware and flatware, kitchen and bathroom accessories to tea kettles and coffee makers, and more.
In collaboration with internationally recognized designers such as Michael Graves, Philippe Starck, and Richard Sapper, Alessi embodies Alberto Alessi’s vision that "A true design work must move people, convey emotions, bring back memories, surprise, and go against common thinking."
This item qualifies for free door-to-door delivery within Canada, with a few exceptions:
- Orders $180 or less are charged a $35 small order fee at checkout.

- Small items will be delivered by FedEx or other courier service in your area.
- Large items will be delivered by freight service. This is standard curbside delivery; meaning the driver will not haul up an incline or up stairs, and it will be your responsibility to bring the item inside, complete any assembly, and remove packaging debris.
