Cassina introduced European industrial design to the world. In 1964, Cassina took over production of the licensed works of Le Corbusier and his collaborators Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand. It continues to hold the exclusive worldwide license from the Le Corbusier Foundation. The Cassina LC1 Sling Chair, created in 1928 by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand, is a iconic chair that is now included in the design collection of the Museum of Modern Art. These three architects were forerunners of the International Style and designed the LC1 so that it tilts and adjusts as the user shifts from one sitting position to the next for continuous support.
A lightweight compact sling chair, the LC1 is made of polished trivalent chrome plated or semi gloss black enamel steel frame. The seat and back are available in pony hide, cow hide or saddle leather in a wide range of colours with matching arms.
The Cassina LC2 Chair is another timeless classic. Designed in 1928, it is the archetype of the modern chair. The separation of the caged frame from its inner cushions is a concrete affirmation of the chair’s rationalist approach.
