Knoll Sale Feature: Saarinen Pedestal Collection

It's not that uncommon for a coffee table to have a matching side table, but it is not all that often that your side table matches your dining table. Eero Saarinen took a great design and made it great three times over again. Well... four times over if you count the oval dining table as a separate piece (and I do, because that just makes an AHmazing desk). And, if we include the chairs, this Tulip collection grows even greater.

While the Saarinen tulip base dining table is large with a solid marble top and substantial surface, it is visually light and airy with an elegant singular base that appears to be effortlessly elevating the beveled edge table top.

The pedestal collection was the result of a five year design investigation by Eero and the development team at Knoll. Saarinen's major goal of this endeavor was to eliminate the "ugly, confusing, unrestful world"* of multiple legs scattered beneath chairs and table tops - a "slum of legs"* as he referred to the problem.

It seems he has accomplished his goal with top marks; the tulip bases often steal the show - which is unusual since the seat or table top itself is usually the focus when admiring a piece of furniture.

The Saarinen Coffee Table also features the slim, pedestal base and choice of wood, laminate or marble table top. Also available in a round or oval shape, this is a piece that you can truly configure to perfectly match your space - in scale and aesthetic.
All the Saarinen tables are on SALE now at grshop.com for 15% off until October 1st! View these products and the rest of the Knoll catalogue here.
