Fritz Hansen launches new edition of the Ant Chair
Fritz Hansen has released a new edition of Arne Jacobsen's classic 1952 Ant Chair, it features dyed grey oak veneer and powder coated bronze legs.
The Fritz Hansen Ant Chair has sold in the millions and is considered a classic today. It consists of two simple elements: tubular steel legs and a springy seat and back formed out of a continuous piece of plywood.
Originally designed for the canteen at Novo Nordisk, an international Danish healthcare company, the Ant Chair faced an unclear future when the manufacturer expressed concern about its potential. But Arne Jacobsen believed in his product and offered to buy all the chairs if they didn’t sell. Of course, he never had to make good on that offer, as the Ant Chair quickly became an international success.
The Fritz Hansen Ant Chair is available in either a three-legged edition or a four-legged edition, both are stackable to max of 6 high.
The Ant Chair is ideally suited to the human body. Its seat back has a comfortable give, and its waterfall seat edge doesn’t press into legs.
The Ant Chair offers a choice of:
Coloured Ash, a durable stain that keeps the wood grain visible, making each chair unique. Offers 12 colour options.
Natural Veneer, offers 9 different veneer finishes, all show the wood grain's unique pattern.
Lacquered, offers 12 vibrant colours in a more solid finish.
Dark Stained Oak, a full dark stained finish over the whole chair.
Dyed Grey Oak Veneer, a clear lacquered grey oak with bronze legs.
Here is the Coloured Ash veneer in Trieste Blue. Chose from all twelve of the highly curated colours offered by Fritz Hansen.
