Stones collection by Maya Lin for KnollThe famed architect, Lin, wanted to create a piece of furniture that wasn't inspired by western ideas of what a chair or a table should look like. She was instead inspired by pre-Columbian art, Chinese porcelain pillows, and the rolling hills of Ohio where she grew up.
"It goes back to a childhood fascination we all have—that moment when you discover that the earth is round…and you walk around trying to see that curve." - Maya Lin, designer bio - source: knoll.com
