Alessi AKK03 Girotondo Round Small Basket
The cartoon men created by the King-Kong team are a symbol and icon of mirror polished design based on the use of "affective codes", so much so that they are one of its most oft-cited examples. The "standing men" have appeared on objects from the farthest corners of Alessi tradition, like trays and baskets, and then they multiplied, invaded and conquered other groups of objects - and not just in the kitchen and at the table.

King-Kong
Netherlands, 2009
King Kong Design is a multidisciplinary design studio founded in Amsterdam in 2009 by Polish designer Kinga Kubowicz. In 2010, the studio relocated to Barcelona. Although they primarily focus on product design, they also provide interior design services and offer educational workshops.
At King Kong Design, traditional manual techniques go hand in hand with the latest digital technology. They combine 2D and 3D design with digital manufacture to produce objects in a variety of design fields, mainly architecture, furniture and lighting. They also offer design services for exhibitions, home interiors, and store displays, with an emphasis on modular installations.
King-Kong is very interested in participatory design. Many of their products are participatory in nature – they enjoy finding ways of involving the customer in the design process.

Alessi is known for producing many of the most iconic home accessories and homeware in the world. Founded in 1921, each product elevates the expression and function of household items, from tableware and flatware, kitchen and bathroom accessories to tea kettles and coffee makers, and more.
In collaboration with internationally recognized designers such as Michael Graves, Philippe Starck, and Richard Sapper, Alessi embodies Alberto Alessi’s vision that "A true design work must move people, convey emotions, bring back memories, surprise, and go against common thinking."
