"She symbolizes femininity, grace, love. An alchemic symbol of universal harmony: flower of Venus, "Belt of Roses", an image of regeneration. Loved and revered since ancient times, here she is transformed into a delicate bowl, available in steel or natural rose pink. The first project inspired by coral came from the workshop "the lightness of steel", from the need to take material away from an object, remove its edges so that it can be impeccably (essentially) Nature. Coral was once commonly found throughout the Mediterranean, from where it was exported worldwide in exchange for spices and perfumes. The kura halos, (human form) often symbolized goddesses, fertility, lunar phases and tides. Use of the symbol for apotropaic purposes (the power to ward off bad luck) made it identifiable with vital energy."- Laura Polinoro

Emma Silvestris
Emma Silvestris, born in Salerno in 1962, currently lives and works in Bari. Having obtained a Bachelor of Arts, specializing in foreign literature and history of art, she subsequently worked as a teacher and researcher. Since 1990 she has been working in the field of design, taking part in the activities of the Special Studio in Bari. An eclectic and versatile designer, her projects combine soft, feminine lines, the precision and elegance of geometry and the use of ancient symbols.

Born in Bergamo, Italy, Laura Polinoro graduated in Drama Art and Music Studies in Bologna. Her first job was in the field of contemporary dance as art director and costume and set designer. Later she undertook research at the Domus Academy in Milan. From 1990 to 1998 she was in charge of the Centro Studi Alessi, where she operated as meta-project designer and art director, coordinating workshops both in-house and in association with various universities and design institutes the world over.
She was also involved in publishing and communications activities. Items which entered production in that period are identified with the acronym “CSA”. Since 2004 products overseen by Ms. Polinoro have been identified with the letters "LPWK"
Alessi is known for producing many of the most iconic home accessories and homeware in the world. Founded in 1921, each product elevates the expression and function of household items, from tableware and flatware, kitchen and bathroom accessories to tea kettles and coffee makers, and more.
In collaboration with internationally recognized designers such as Michael Graves, Philippe Starck, and Richard Sapper, Alessi embodies Alberto Alessi’s vision that "A true design work must move people, convey emotions, bring back memories, surprise, and go against common thinking."
This item qualifies for free door-to-door delivery within Canada, with a few exceptions:
- Orders $180 or less are charged a $35 small order fee at checkout.

- Small items will be delivered by FedEx or other courier service in your area.
- Large items will be delivered by freight service. This is standard curbside delivery; meaning the driver will not haul up an incline or up stairs, and it will be your responsibility to bring the item inside, complete any assembly, and remove packaging debris.
