Antonio Citterio
Italy, 1950
Born in 1950 in Meda, Italy, Antonio Citterio opened his architecture office at the age of just 22. One of the most internationally sought-after designers, Citterio has worked for such renowned companies as Vitra, Flos, Kartell, and Iittala. The reason for the success of his design projects is that he likes to “tease” out an object’s dormant potential. He is on a constant search for true and authentic work and that he detests bad design. In 1987 and in 1994, Antonio Citterio received the Compasso d’Oro award.
Since 2006 he has been teaching architectural design at the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio, Switzerland. In 2008, the Royal Society honored him for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce of London, which gave him the title of “Royal Designer for Industry.”

Toan Nguyen
Graduating from the ENSCI (Paris) in 1995, Toan Nguyen pursued his training in Barcelona with Alberto Lievore, moving to Milan in 1996, where not long after he took over as head of Antonio Citterio’s design department, with whom, for nearly ten years he was to sign lines for, among others, Axor-Hansgrohe, B&B Italia, Flos, Iittala, Kartell, Technogym, and Vitra. In 2009 he founded his own studio in Milan, subsequently embarking on a series of successful collaborations with several major brands in high-quality industry and fine craftmanship in Europe, North America, and Asia, on furniture, lighting, ceramics, as well as on technological products.
For Toan Nguyen design is a discipline intimately bound up with the object, in the traditional sense of the term. Priority is given to physical relationships with users—to them sitting, washing, lighting, etc. Displaying an immediate sense for meaningful utilization, precedence is accorded to intelligible forms and optimized manufacturing processes, without, however, ever neglecting the sensuality of materials and the emotional impact of the object.
Toan Nguyen’s creative individuality has been acknowledged by flagship contemporary design brands such as Vibia, Dedon, Laufen, Fendi Casa, Coalesse, Teknion, Studio TK, Viccarbe, Walter Knoll, Lema, Busnelli, RH, among others, a substantial number of whose creations have been awarded prestigious international prizes.

Founded in Merano in 1962, Flos is internationally recognized as a high-end modern designer lighting and lighting systems manufacturer for private residential and commercial sectors. They strive to amplify and increase creative lighting solutions. Later collaborations include Achille Castiglioni in the 80s, which established FLO within the industry with the Brera Series.
Flos creations have won numerous awards, including the Compasso d'Oro Industrial Design Award five times. Many now feature in permanent collections of major art and design museums worldwide. Commissions include Venice's Palazzo Grassi and the City of Amsterdam archives. With a versatile catalog, long-standing reputation, and rich design history, Flos products are an excellent addition to any space.
