Founded in Copenhagen in 2011, NORR11 builds furniture that refuses to sit quietly in a room. The Danish studio draws on references from across eras and cultures, then resolves them into pieces that read as sculptural without sacrificing comfort. The enveloping Hippo lounge chair, the low-slung Elephant dining chair and the monolithic Oku tables in smoked oak all make the case.
Material honesty runs through the catalogue: solid oak in natural, light smoked and dark smoked finishes; travertine and magnesium-oxide concrete; polished steel and chrome; hand-selected leathers, bouclés and sheepskin. Frames are built to be reupholstered rather than replaced, which is why NORR11 pieces tend to outlast the rooms they were bought for.
